The Belfast Rail Trail Loop

The Belfast Rail Trail, which runs 2.3 miles right along the Western shore of the Passagassawakeag River, is one of Belfast's most popular places to ride a bike.

Mostly flat, with a crushed stone surface and beautiful views for its entire length, it's a perfect for exploring by bike.

We recommend making the Rail Trail part of a loop, by taking a right turn onto Kaler Road once you've reached City Point Station.  Follow Kaler Road along the Eastern shore of the river, as it turns into Robbins Road, and ends at the intersection with Swan Lake Avenue.

At this intersection, we recommend crossing over the sidewalk and making your way over to the US Route 1 intersection, where you will find a crosswalk with a button that you can press to activate a blinking light.  Once you've made it across Route 1, you'll be able to easily make your way down the hill to the Armistice Bridge (The Footbridge), and back to town either along Front Street or the Harbor Walk.
